TRAMA
Room racconta la straordinaria storia di Jack, un bambino vivace di 5 anni che viene accudito dalla sua amorevole e devota Ma' (Brie Larson, vincitrice dell'Oscar 2016 come migliore attrice protagonista). Trama:
Drammatico thriller a sfondo storico, Il Ponte delle Spie è la storia di James Donovan, un avvocato assicurativo di Brooklyn, che si ritrova catapultato nella Guerra Fredda, quando la CIA lo recluta per negoziare il rilascio del pilota americano dell’aereo spia U-2 catturato dai sovietici. Negli anni ’50, al culmine delle tensioni fra Stati Uniti e Unione Sovietica, l’FBI arresta Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance), un agente sovietico che vive a New York, generando un’escalation di paura e paranoia. Accusato di aver inviato messaggi in codice alla Russia, Abel viene interrogato dall’FBI, ma si rifiuta di collaborare, respingendo l’offerta di tornare nel suo Paese. Viene pertanto rinchiuso in una prigione federale in attesa di processo. Il governo, nella necessità di trovare un avvocato indipendente che assuma la difesa di Abel, si rivolge a James Donovan (Tom Hanks), un legale assicurativo di Brooklyn. Ma Donovan, un ex procuratore dei processi di Norimberga, che gode di grande considerazione all’interno della comunità legale grazie alla sua spiccata abilità di negoziatore, in realtà ha poca esperienza in situazioni di questa portata, e oltre tutto non intende farsi coinvolgere in un caso che potrebbe renderlo impopolare ed esporre la propria famiglia al pubblico sdegno e persino al pericolo. Tuttavia Donovan, essendo un convinto sostenitore della giustizia e della tutela dei fondamentalli diritti umani, alla fine accetta di rappresentare Abel... Mentre prepara la sua strategia di difesa, nasce un legame, fra i due uomini, che si basa sul rispetto e sulla comprensione reciproca, e Donovan costruisce una difesa appassionata per impedire che riceva la pena di morte. In seguito, l’aereo spia americano U-2 viene abbattuto mentre sorvola lo spazio aereo sovietico, durante una missione di ricognizione, e il pilota, Francis Gary Powers (Austin Stowell), viene arrestato e condannato a 10 anni di prigionia in Russia. La CIA, pur smentendo categoricamente di essere a conoscenza della missione, teme che Powers possa essere costretto a rivelare le informazioni riservate e contatta Donovan per offrirgli un’importante missione per garantire la sicurezza nazionale: poco dopo Donovan si ritrova in viaggio per Berlino, per negoziare lo scambio fra i due prigionieri. Una volta giunto a destinazione, viene a sapere che uno studente americano di nome Frederic Pryor (Will Rogers) è stato arrestato a Berlino Est mentre cercava di tornare nella sua abitazione situata nella zona Ovest, e nonostante le indicazioni della CIA di concentrarsi solo sul pilota, decide di negoziare anche il rilascio dello studente, per non essere iniquo con nessuno.

La scoperta di uno scheletro e una pistola sepolte sotto terra da anni non sono il modo migliore per iniziare una vacanza per una giovane coppia sposata. Incuriosito dai reperti, Tim (Jake Johnson) vuole continuare a indagare sullo scheletro misterioso, mentre sua moglie Lee (Rosemarie DeWitt) è contraria. Il ritrovamento finisce per "dissotterrare" anche le loro incompatibilità. Così Lee parte per una "pausa di riflessione" e suggerisce a Tim di fare altrettanto. Quando si rincontreranno, si renderanno conto che tutto è – inaspettatamente – cambiato… Nel cast anche Orlando Bloom, Brie Larson (Golden Globe come Miglior attrice in un film dramamtico e nomination al Premio Oscar come Miglior attrice protagonista per The Room), Sam Rockwell e Anna Kendrick.
