L'agente federale Robert 'Bob' Mazur agisce sotto copertura per infiltrarsi nel mondo del traffico di droga di Pablo Escobar, che nel 1986 affligge gli Stati Uniti grazie alla collaborazione dell'uomo d'affari Bob Musella. In coppia con l'impulsivo e scafato collega Emir Abreu e con l'agente alle prime armi Kathy Ertz che si finge sua fidanzata, Mazur riesce a stringere amicizia con Roberto Alcaino, uomo di punta di Escobar. Mazur rischierà la sua stessa vita per portare all'accusa di ben 85 signori della droga e banchieri corrotti in grado di gestire un vasto impero internazionale grazie al riciclaggio di denaro sporco.
