Il film racconta l'arrivo a Kabul della giornalista Kim Barker nel 2002: il motivo del suo trasferimento è dovuto al fatto che lei voleva cambiare vita e rompere la monotonia dell'ufficio e di un ragazzo che vedeva sempre di meno. All'inizio, all'arrivo nella casa dove ci sono tutti i giornalisti, è un po' spaesata ma fa subito amicizia con dei giornalisti, specialmente con una donna chiamata Tanya Vanderpoel, che le mostra che stare a Kabul non è cosi male. I giornalisti sono infatti chiusi in uno stabile molto sicuro e la sera fanno party a base di alcol, droga ed eventualmente sesso..............

2003. After careful consideration, Kim Baker, a news copywriter, decides to leave the relative comfort of a New York desk job and serious boyfriend Chris to accept the assignment to work for three months as on-camera reporter in war torn Afghanistan, as her news agency is looking for anyone within their ranks to fill immediately the empty voids overseas. Her only experience of being in such an environment is going through hostile zone training a few years earlier.

Cosa accadrebbe se il più famoso detective al mondo e il suo migliore amico vivessero in una Baker Street fatta di treni a vapore, carrozze a due ruote, cappelli a cilindro e redingote? Per la prima volta al mondo Benedict Cumberbatch (nei panni di Sherlock Holmes) e Martin Freeman (in quelli dell’immancabile Watson) sbarcheranno al cinema con Sherlock. L’abominevole sposa, l'inedito episodio speciale in abiti vittoriani della serie investigativa più amata degli ultimi anni. Il 12 e 13 gennaio, infatti, gli spettatori italiani troveranno su grande schermo Benedict Cumberbatch e Martin Freeman per un appuntamento cinematografico attesissimo. L’episodio, intitolato Sherlock. L’abominevole sposa e mai visto sino ad oggi, sarà corredato da 20 minuti di riprese aggiuntive e da una visita guidata al 221B di Baker Street con il produttore esecutivo Steven Moffat.

Jack è un contadino che vive nel regno di Cloister, retto dal buon re Brahmwell, padre della principessa Isabelle. Da bambini, Jack e Isabelle erano affascinati da una leggenda secondo la quale dei monaci, nella smania di avvicinarsi a Dio, violarono le leggi della magia per produrre dei fagioli magici in grado di far nascere una pianta alta fino al cielo. Quando vi si arrampicarono, però, i monaci non trovarono il Paradiso, bensì Gantua, un regno sospeso nel cielo e abitato da terribili giganti, i quali usarono la pianta di fagiolo per scendere sulla terra e devastarla, fino al momento in cui re Eric fece forgiare una corona magica dal cuore di un gigante, in grado di soggiogarli. Così i giganti tornarono al loro regno, mentre gli ultimi fagioli rimasti e la corona vennero seppelliti assieme al re.

When the Soviet Union on 17 September 1939 invades Poland, Anna Aleksandrowna leaves her home in Krakow to search for her husband, the Polish captain Andrzej. She finds him together with other officers captured by the Red Army, but some minutes later he is pushed into a train, which will take all the Polish officers to a prison camp in Kozelsk in Russia. Anna and her daughter Nika is now stuck in the Soviet occupied zone, unable to go back to Krakow in the German zone, not until a brave Russian captain helps them to flee. 3 April 1940 Andrzej is transported from the prison camp in Kozelsk to the Katyn Forest, where thousands of Polish officers are killed.. .

1941. Napoleone V regna sulla Francia quando gli scienziati iniziano a scomparire misteriosamente. Privato della tecnologia moderna, il mondo è governato dall'energia a carbone e dal vapore. Avril, una ragazza, parte alla ricerca dei suoi genitori, scienziati scomparsi, in compagnia di Darwin, il suo gatto parlante, e di Julius, un giovane furfante. Il trio dovrà affrontare pericoli e misteri per scoprire quale mistero e quale motivo si celino dietro le sparizioni.

1941. Le monde est radicalement différent de celui décrit par l’Histoire habituelle. Napoléon V règne sur la France, où, comme partout sur le globe, depuis 70 ans, les savants disparaissent mystérieusement, privant l’humanité d’inventions capitales. Ignorant notamment radio, télévision, électricité, aviation, moteur à explosion, cet univers est enlisé dans une technologie dépassée, comme endormi dans un savoir du XIXème siècle, gouverné par le charbon et la vapeur.
C’est dans ce monde étrange qu’une jeune fille, Avril, part à la recherche de ses parents, scientifiques disparus, en compagnie de Darwin, son chat parlant, et de Julius, jeune gredin des rues. Ce trio devra affronter les dangers et les mystères de ce Monde Truqué. Qui enlève les savants depuis des décennies ? Dans quel sinistre but ?
